About Shawna Evans

My name is Shawna Evans, and I'm the principal at MacArthur Elementary. I was born and raised in Liberal and proud to call the "Land of Oz" my home.  I graduated from Kansas State University with my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education in 1995 and landed my first job in education as a fifth grade teacher.  I taught five years at McKinley Elementary and moved to Cottonwood Intermediate when it opened.  I taught fifth grade for a total of ten years.  During that time, I earned my ESL endorsement from Fort Hays State University and my Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction as well as my administration certificate from Newman University.

I have had the awesome opportunity to serve as the principal at MacArthur since 2006.  Everyday brings a new challenge!  I enjoy learning from the very dedicated and talented staff as well as from our students and parents.

When I'm not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family.  My husband is currently a PE teacher at Cottonwood Intermediate.  He also serves as the USD 480 Energy Specialist and is a farmer on our family farm.  We have two children, Cole and Emma, who keep us very busy outside the school day with their activities.  We spend numerous hours attending various sporting events and dance competitions.

I am looking forward to another great year at MacArthur!  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.
